VOLUNTEERING
Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary operates entirely through the dedication and hard work of volunteers. We don't have any paid staff members; our day-to-day operations are tackled by passionate individuals who give their time freely to care for the animals and maintain the sanctuary.
-
We are looking for dependable volunteers who can commit to their scheduled shifts. Consistent attendance is crucial in any weather, rain or shine. While insurance and horse experience are preferred, they aren't required. Appropriate footwear is required at all times. We encourage interacting with our rescue horses, but ask that volunteers complete daily tasks before doing so.
-
Typical tasks involve cleaning stalls, washing, grooming, and blanketing horses, as well as assisting with veterinary and farrier visits.
In the past, our volunteers have taken on larger projects, like constructing entire buildings, often using donated materials or timber sourced from our own mountains and milled into lumber.
And, of course, don't forget the horse treats at the end of the day!
-
After reviewing our volunteer requirements and tasks, please complete the form below. Our arms are always open to dedicated, hardworking volunteers who support our cause; rescuing neglected equines, and providing a safe and loving home. We look forward to working with you at Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary!

“I love to visit, take in the breathtaking mountain views, and watch those pampered and beautiful horses now enjoying their lives. This is a true story of how John and Ann turned a life-altering tragedy into a passionate, life-long goal to provide a safe and loving haven for hapless and unwanted horses. They are most deserving of the monetary help needed to carry on their mission.”
