Building Hope: Our Mission to Expand Shelter for Rescue Horses
At Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary, our mission is to provide a safe haven for abandoned, abused, and neglected horses. Over the years, we’ve been able to rescue and rehabilitate countless equines, giving them a second chance at life. However, as the need for rescue continues to grow, so does our need for space. That’s why we’ve set an important goal: to build a new barn that will allow us to shelter more horses in need.
Why We Need a New Barn
Our current facilities have served us well, but they are at capacity. Each horse we rescue requires shelter, proper nutrition, and individualized care to recover from their previous hardships. With over 20 horses currently under our care, including those recovering from neglect and abuse, space has become a significant challenge.
A new barn would not only increase the number of horses we can rescue but also improve the quality of care we provide. More stalls mean we can accommodate horses with special needs, including those requiring isolation or intensive medical treatment. It will also provide a safe, weather-proof area for feeding, grooming, and rehabilitation.
