Hurricane Helene Relief
For Displaced Horses
Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary is stepping up to provide safe transport and shelter for horses displaced by Hurricane Helene. To keep up with the urgent need, we’re raising funds for a horse trailer and a new barn to house these animals and prepare for future rescues. Your support will directly help give these horses a safe place to recover and thrive.
Hurricane Helene recently left a deep impact on Western North Carolina, as powerful winds and record rainfall swept through the region, causing devastating flooding, landslides, and widespread destruction. Homes, farms, and businesses across the area were affected, with many families facing damage to their properties and interruptions to their daily lives. The heavy rains caused rivers and creeks to overflow, wiping out roads, bridges, and access points, leaving residents and animals stranded. In the more rural areas, the hurricane’s effects have been particularly harsh, as farms and sanctuaries struggle to recover from severe property damage and the overwhelming need to care for displaced animals.
Among the most vulnerable in this crisis are the horses and other farm animals displaced by the storm. Many have lost their homes and require immediate relocation to ensure their safety and well-being. At Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary, we’re doing our part by providing essential transportation for these displaced horses to safe locations and shelters. However, as the demand continues to grow, we urgently need support to secure a horse trailer for transport and raise funds for a new barn. This will enable us to expand our capacity and offer a safe haven for more horses in need. Together, with the help of our community, we can ensure these animals find peace and security in the aftermath of the storm.
